Many health screenings offered to community in September
Goshen, Ind. - Healthy Generations, Goshen Health System's community outreach program, will offer a number of health screenings to the community on Wednesday, Sept. 10, from 6:30-10 a.m. at Healthy Generations located in High Park Center at 1721 South Main Street, Goshen. Screenings will take place on the second floor. Screenings will include Wellness Profiles, cholesterol, ALT, A1C and osteoporosis. All screens are open to both men and women.
Cost for the Wellness Profile is $45, the fasting cholesterol screen is $30, a non-fasting cholesterol screen is $25, the A1C is $25 and the ALT and osteoporosis screenings are $15. Cholesterol, ALT and A1C screens analyze blood from a simple finger stick. Results of finger stick screens are available within 10 minutes. A Wellness Profile includes a health questionnaire, a fasting lipid profile, height, weight, body fat percentage, BMI and blood pressure. This assessment takes approximately 30 minutes. Healthcare professionals are on site to answer questions, and participants will receive their comprehensive confidential results in the mail within two weeks of their screening.
Fasting cholesterol screens include a complete lipid profile and a blood sugar test. This test assesses total cholesterol, triglycerides, HDL (good cholesterol), LDL (bad cholesterol), glucose (sugar) and good to bad cholesterol ratio. Fasting is required 12 hours prior to the screening. An ALT screening can be done using the same finger stick as the cholesterol screening and is used to assess liver function. The A1C assists a person with diabetes to assess blood sugar control over time and the associated risk of long term complications.
Registration is required for all screenings. For more information or to register call Nurse On Call at 574.535.2600 or toll-free at 877.846.4447.
Health screenings can increase your awareness of modifiable risk factors so you can make healthy lifestyle changes that dramatically impact your quality of life. Health screenings are not meant to replace medical tests ordered by your physician, but are a starting point for your personal journey to optimal health.
