Fitness and Nutrition


Community Wellness & Education offers an array of fitness and nutrition classes at a variety of times to best fit the needs of the community. Classes are available on an ongoing basis for a fee of $40 for 8 weeks of unlimited classes, unless otherwise noted. Fitness classes can also be offered at your location with a minimum of 12 participants.

Pilates

This is a unique method of conditioning that focuses on strengthening the “powerhouse”--the muscles in the center of the body that are instrumental in creating and maintaining good posture and alignment. Mats are available for sale or you may bring your own.

 

Yoga Fundamentals

Restore and renew your energy, flexibility, balance and focus through modified poses that will strengthen and stretch your muscles and calm your mind. Each session ends with a sequence of supported yoga postures and breathing techniques to help relieve the effect of chronic stress and discomfort. The instructor is a certified yoga instructor registered with the Yoga Alliance.

 

Power Vinyasa Flow Yoga

This dynamic class integrates conscious flowing movements that will increase strength and flexibility. By combining rhythmic movement of body and breath, you will open to deeper self awareness, relaxation and well-being.

 

Yoga Intermediate

Learn body postures and proper techniques to bring a feeling of relaxation and improve flexibility, strength, balance and much more. Modifications and progressions will be given for both the intermediate and more advanced student. Mats are available for sale or you may bring your own. The instructor is a certified yoga instructor registered with the Yoga Alliance.

 

Yoga For Kids

This kid-friendly program helps children channel energy into fitness fun while helping them to feel calm, confident and relaxed. Yoga fundamentals are adapted for children 4-9 years old. Fee: $30 per eight-week session.

 

Zumba

Zumba--described as "exercise in disguise"-- is a fun, dynamic aerobic workout that combines fast and slow rhythms and resistance training to tone and sculpt your body and burn fat.

 

Tai Chi Easy

Tai Chi Easy consists of classic, simple Qigong and uses five of the traditional movements from Tai Chi in a stationary standing position or seated. It progresses to repeated movements to create a set or form. These gentle movements promote relaxation, a positive attitude and other health benefits.

 

Cardio Play Off the Pounds (POP)

This fun cardio workout includes Cardio-Drumming, Dance and Kick. Burn calories galore while you move to the rhythm of tropical beats or simply follow your own rhythm. You'll be sure to have fun!


Gentle Cardio Play Off the Pounds (POP)   

This gentle cardio workout includes Cardio-Drumming and Dancing to oldies and rhythmic beats to help you build cardio fitness, burn fat and have fun.

 

Women on Weights (WOW)

Tone up and strengthen using small hand weights, therabands, weighted balls and a stability ball. This is a total body workout to make you strong.

 

Mommy and Me Get Fit

This program is designed for both the new mother and the mother-to-be to help improve energy, fitness, and stamina. Learn to bond with your baby or toddler as you benefit from this playful exercise.

 

Family Fun With Food and Fitness

This child and parent program focuses on teaching children ages 5 to 8 and their parent/caregiver about healthy eating and physical activity. These monthly classes are led by a registered dietitian and registered nurse. Classes include a nutrition lesson/activity, a fun physical activity, and a recipe demonstration/snack time. Bi-weekly support is given to each family via phone calls or email. There is no fee but registration is required.

 

Boot Camp

Learn a variety of interval formats combining strength, cardio conditioning, plyometrics and functional movements that will maximize your time and results. Challenge yourself and monitor your results with a free pre and post fitness assessment. Prizes awarded to the most improved participants.

 

The Lebed Method: Focus on Healing

This gentle, medically-based exercise program with emphasis on movement to music is designed for cancer survivors, those affected by Lymphedema and other chronic conditions such as Fibromyalgia. Fee: $30 per eight-week session.

 

Personal Training

Personal training, led by certified personal trainers, is available for individuals, couples or small groups.

 

The LEARN Weight Management Program

This 12-week program, led by a registered dietitian and registered nurse certified and degreed in fitness nutrition, will help you develop positive lifestyle changes for long-term weight loss. Fee: $150 for 12 sessions and includes materials.
